7 self-help books that changed my life and they can change yours too. In my 20s, I always thought of self-help books as woo-woo and thought that the people who read them were little nuts. How could someone simply change their life and mindset just by reading a book?

It all just seemed so farfetched to me.

We all have moments in our lives that humble us and bring us to our knees. I’ve had a few moments in my life that have caused me to want to be better, but they never stuck. Not like this moment did.

Personal Experience

Nov. 1 2022 is the day my life changed and I finally said enough was enough. The thing was I didn’t know how to change. I just remember successful, happy, and wealthy people saying reading is the best form of development.

So that’s what I decided to do. Then another problem arose, “what do I read?”.

I have never read an entire book in my life. How was I supposed to know what to read? Well, that very same day I was on YouTube looking for some motivational words. I came across an interview with an older gentleman who was being interviewed. His name was Bob Proctor.

His message resonated with me so much, it inspired me to go on his website and see what he was all about. I saw that he had a book titled “You Were Born Rich” and it was a free download. I believe you can still download it for free.

So, I downloaded and read the entire thing in 2 days. It was amazing and it helped me to understand that I was born with all the tools necessary to have success, wealth, and happiness in my life. I just must develop them.

So, If you are like me, and have reached the Enough is Enough stage or you simply just want to be better. These 7 books changed my life and I read them all in just 30 days.

Atomic Habits

Atomic Habits is a book written by James Clear that helps you understand the importance of doing small and simple things every day. These small and simple things over time, compound themselves and result in big changes in the future. Often these small habits we implement in our lives don’t bear any fruit at first, so a lot of people quit.

James Clear does an outstanding job at helping the reader understand that quitting is not an option if you are serious about change. Our results in our life can only change if our actions change.

James also does a great job of relating. He starts off the book with an incredible story about how he was injured and how that moment shaped his entire life.

If you haven’t read this book, you are doing yourself a disservice. There is a reason why it is at the top of my list.

The Gap and The Gain

The Gap and The Gain was written by Dan Sullivan to help the world understand where to focus their thoughts. It is a fantastic book of examples and references of people who have implemented this strategy in their lives and have been able to achieve phenomenal results.

The gap refers to where our mind goes when things aren’t going right. Do you tend to focus on the things that you haven’t accomplished and get frustrated easily because you are not where you want to be?

Then you are in the gap.

The gain is the opposite, where you may not be where you want to be, but you are constantly focused on what you have accomplished and living in the moment.

This has helped me in my daily life recognize why my moods shift throughout the day. As soon as I start to get frustrated or irritable, I know I am worrying too much about where I am not at. I quickly remember that I need to focus on how much I have achieved thus far, and my mood quickly snaps back.

This is a great book for those who are wanting to improve the amount of stress they are putting on themselves. Change is a process that takes time. Implementing small practices like this goes a long way.

Take The Stairs

Take the Stairs by Rory Vaden was a book that was recommended to me by my brother-in-law. This is a power book to help you understand that there are no shortcuts in life. Shortcuts always just leave you feeling empty because there was really no growth that happened.

Taking a long way or in the book’s reference, Taking the Stairs allows you to build the discipline you need in order to be successful, one step at a time.

Whenever I choose between the stairs or the escalator, I always take the stairs. In it is a 50-story building, Then I opt to take the elevator. For time purposes lol.

Vaden has a unique way of helping you break down the reasons why you always opt to take shortcuts instead of the long way. No one has ever gotten rich or becomes a success by taking the easy route.

Yeah, you may see people online say, “I made a million $$ online just by doing this simple thing.” What they don’t tell you is the number of hours they had to put in to make that possible. Many try their methods but 99% fail, because to them it is a shortcut to money that never works out.

So, in a nutshell, it is a fantastic book outlining the steps to creating success in your life the right way.

Change Your Paradigm, Change Your Life

Paradigm: A Typical example or pattern of something

Change your paradigm, change your life is a fantastic book to help you understand that the results you are getting are due to your habits. If you want to change the way you live, then you must change the way you do things.

If you sleep in till 10 am every morning and you want to have more time in the day. Then you must wake up earlier.

If you lack confidence in yourself that is because you are living in a paradigm that keeps you there. To snap out of that paradigm, you must do something outside of the ordinary. Maybe speak up at work, ask that woman or man on a date, or maybe start that business you have always wanted to start.

This book does a fantastic job of explaining if you want something to change, do something different. Proctor also goes into detail on how to recognize what paradigm you are in and how to shift it.

This is a must-read if you are looking for a new way of thinking and boosting self-confidence.

Power Of Awareness

Power Of Awareness by Neville is a timeless classic. This book has been around since the early 1900s and helps build the power of awareness.

The only difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is their awareness. The opportunities are there for everyone to take advantage of. If you are not aware of such opportunities then they don’t exist to you.

It is kind of like when you are driving down the street and you see a cool-looking car and you think, wow that is a nice car. I’ve never seen one of those. Then suddenly you see them constantly as you drive.

I never knew how many jeeps there were in the world until I had a son who loved them. Every time we see a jeep I say, “look it’s a red jeep son”. I often find myself saying there’s a jeep with the corresponding color about 30 -40 times during a drive. Before, I never paid attention and didn’t realize how popular they are.

You can’t take advantage of opportunities to succeed if you don’t know they are there. You must become aware.

The same goes for your habits. When you start working on yourself, you often find bad habits that you never considered bad. That is because you are becoming more aware.

If you want to be successful, you need to develop your awareness. The talent is there but it just needs to be exercised.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F#uck

The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F#$K by Mark Manson is a book geared towards those who need a little extra push to get out of their comfort zone.

The scenarios we make up in our minds typically are much worse than they actually are. Manson does an outstanding job at helping you realize that not giving an F is an art. Now he doesn’t say to give an F about anything, because there are things you should care about.

Manson helps you to determine what you should care about and what you shouldn’t.

Storytime

Recently my wife and I ordered takeout. We drove about 20 minutes to get to the restaurant. This place was absolutely packed. Standing room only. I walk in and ask for my order. They hand it to me, and then I am on my way.

I got to the car only to realize; they forgot my son’s drink. So, I walked back in and asked the same lady for my son’s drink. They oblige me and hand me the drink. I walked back to the car to discover that they had forgotten some food that we had already paid for.

At this point, I was frustrated and was not going back in there. There were too many people, and it just would be embarrassing for me to walk in 3 separate times. My wife persisted and mentioned that we paid for it so we should get it.

As I was walking in, I was reminded of Mark Manson and how I should really give an F. They messed up my order and they need to fix it. I walked in with confidence; said you made a mistake and I was out of there in 2 minutes.

If I had listened to my old way of thinking, I would have just said eff it we are just going home. I pushed myself to out of my comfort zone, by not caring what anyone else thought.

Now this story isn’t all that Gran Dios but it helped me realize that this book is a fantastic read.

The Compound Effect

The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy was written to help others compound their life, success, and wealth.

Just like your money compounds when you invest it, every aspect of your life can compound if you invest in them.

Darren Hardy, like Tony Robins, was mentored by the late great Jim Rohn.

This book has done a wonderful job at helping me and many others pinpoint areas of weakness in our lives and put a plan into action to fix them. It is simplified to make it an extremely easy read but can help beginners all the way up to highly successful people.

Just because you see success in your life doesn’t mean you can stop developing yourself. To reach your full potential in this life, development must be a lifetime quest.

Daren gives you the keys to developing your talents and abilities to do just that.
