There are two ways of learning:
- From your own experiences
- From other people and their experiences
It is no secret that in today’s society there are many mentors, life coaches, and personal development roadmaps that you can choose from. With the endless options out there, it can be difficult to know which one is the right one for you.
Many people think that in order to succeed they need to hire a mentor that cost hundreds of dollars a month and spend endless time and resources following their every move. Now for someone who is just getting started on their personal development journey that can be overwhelming.
In this article we are going to highlight 5 mentors that you could immediately start learning from, with a small budget. The 5 mentors are:
- Bob Proctor: Net Worth Estimate- $20 Million when he passed away
- Jim Rohn: Net worth Estimate -$500 million when he passed away
- Tony Robins: Net Worth Estimate- $600 Million
- Earl Nightingale: Net Worth Estimate – $38 Million when he passed away
- Napoleon Hill: Net worth – $10 million when he passed away
Bob Proctor: 1934 – 2022
Bob Proctor has an incredible story. When he was 26 years old, he was earning $4000 a year and was $6000 in debt. He owed everybody money. He had been hired and fired from so many different jobs. Bob only had 2 months of High school education before being kicked out of the school for not being a good student.
Bob never thought that he could do anything different with his life and expected to live that way until his life ended. He eventually met a man named Ray Stanford who suggested he change the results he’s been getting. Ray proceeded to ask him “Do you read anything? “Bob of course said no. Ray, then handed him a book called “THINK AND GROW RICH” BY NAPOLEON HILL. Ray told him to read it every single day and his life would surely change.
Bob took on that challenge and started to read it. In that first year of reading “THINK AND GROW RICH” he made $175,000. In just under 5 years, he was making $1 million a year.
Isn’t that remarkable? Some one like Bob, with no expertise, no unusual talents of any kind, could go from making $4000 to making 45xs more in just 1 year all from reading 1 book every single day.
Bob continued reading “THINK AND GROW RICH” everyday until he passed away in early February of 2022. The power of studying those who have accomplished great things in their lives is remarkable. If you just study 30 minutes a day and develop yourself constantly, you can have a story just like Bob Proctor.
Here are some of Bob Proctors most popular books:
Jim Rohn: 1930 – 2009
Jim, a similar story to Bob Proctor. He was 26 years old when he met his mentor, Earl Shoaff. Jim would constantly find problems with the world and have excuses for why he wasn’t doing well in his life. Saying if this would just go the way I want it to, I could surely make my riches. Inevitably it never did and would go on a rant of excuses but never really understood that the problem wasn’t his surroundings or the things out of his control. The problem was with him. He blamed everyone but himself for his shortcomings. That is until Mr. Shoaff pointed it out to him.
One of my favorite quotes from Jim Rohn:
“If you wish to be wealthy, study wealth, If you wish to be successful, study success, If you wish to be happy, study happiness.”
That is the key to being successful in our lives. If we want something like more money, then we must study money and how to make more of it.
Jim Rohn went from being broke to a millionaire in just 6 years and was worth an estimate of $500 million when he passed. Rohn is one of my favorite inspiration for success mentors to listen to in the morning. His tonality of voice and his brilliant mind inspire me almost daily.
Books by Jim Rohn:
Tony Robbins
Tony is an author, coach, speaker, and philanthropist. He was mentored by the above Jim Rohn. Tony started working for Jim when he was only 17 years old. Robins had a chaotic and abusive childhood, that gives him the drive and the passion to help others get through the darkest of times.
Robbins recently released backstage footage of one of his seminars on Netflix called “I am not your guru”. This is a great documentary into his life, what he does, and how he inspires people to be their best selves no matter what their circumstances are.
Personal Experience
I was getting my hair cut just around the time I started digging into learning more about myself and the personal development arena. I sparked up a conversation with my hair stylist and asked her why she cuts hair. She then went on to explain that she only cuts hair once or twice a week but does it because it allows her to be creative. Her full time job was being a real estate agent. I thought to myself “Why would someone want to do something, let alone cut hair for strangers, to help them be creative?” Then it dawned on me, she cuts hair because it’s her passion and it is what she loves to do in her free time. Why not make a couple extra bucks doing something she loves.
We had a lovely conversation and at the end she recommended I investigate Tony Robins and watch his Documentary on Netflix. So, as soon as I got home, flipped on Netflix and binged watch the whole show. It was amazing!
One thing you can implement in your life that will help to know which books to read or who to learn from. When someone recommends something to you like a book or a podcast that is meant to help you grow. Always go out and buy it or download the content as soon as possible. Then proceed to consume said content as fast as you can and connect with that person again. Let them know and hope to have a conversation about it.
This allows people to feel as if they are being helpful and gives them a sense of purpose. It also lifts your spirits knowing that you were a person of your word. Your word should mean everything to you.
Here are some Popular books authored by Tony Robbins:
Earl Nightingale: 1921 – 1989
Earl Joined the Marines when he was 17 years old and was on the USS Arizona when Pearl Harbor was attacked. After his duty ended, he became an American Radio Speaker and an author. At one point he was the most listened to man in America dealing with human character development, motivation, and meaningful existence.
Earl had a great deal of influence on millions of lives and still to this day helps people in whatever they are doing. He is known for saving careers, marriages, lives and many other things dealing with human beings.
If you are unhappy, not feeling fulfilled in your life, feeling depressed, sad, or lonely. Please listen to Earl Nightingale words.
One of my favorite works of his is the “Magic Word”. He explains the results we are getting in our lives and the things we have, are directly correlated to our Attitude. If you want to change your situation, the first thing you need to do is focus on changing your attitude, to a more happy and grateful one.
Earl also a big proponent of “people become what they think about” If you are constantly thinking about bad things, then guess what? Bad things are going to happen to you.

Napoleon Hill: 1883- 1970
Napoleon grew up in a one room cabin, he didn’t come from a family of wealth. His mother passed away when he was only 9 years old, but his father remarried 2 years later. Napoleons new step mother took great care of him through his childhood into is teenage years.
Napoleon had many careers from becoming a lawyer to a teacher at a university, and even a journalist. He also invested in other businesses as well. What he is most famous for is writing the book “THINK AND GROW RICH”. It has been said that Andrew Carnegie before he died, tasked Napoleon with an insurmountable task. To go out to all the rich people Andrew knew and interview them. Find out what it takes to be successful and share it with the world. Napoleon interviewed successful people like Henry Ford who changed the very fabric of transportation.
“THINK AND GROW RICH” is among the top 10 best selling self-help books ever created in history. If you don’t have it, then you need to get it fast. It has been said that Napoleon interviewed 500 of the wealthiest people in the world and wrote their stories in this book. If you want to be wealthy, then “THINK AND GROW RICH” should be a daily read.

Conclusion
In conclusion, above are some remarkable men who have written down their stories on how they became some of the most influential people of all time. They all started from nothing, grew to be millionaires, and then decided to spend the rest of their lives helping others to have the same level of success and fulfilment.
The point is, you don’t need to go out and spend thousands of dollars on courses or mentoring. Almost all successful people have written books that you could buy for less than $20.
I am not saying that eventually you won’t need a personal mentor because at some point you may want someone who you can learn from and communicate with daily. But to say, you can’t do something now because you don’t have the money, time, or know anyone who can mentor you is just false. The easiest way to get started is to figure out what you want to do, buy all the books you can on that topic, and read them. Take the things you learn from those books and implement them in your life. You will be sure to succeed.
